Who are we ?

The Heritage of Excellence of Montaigne Haute Couture

The Origin: Richard d'Orsay, the Passionate Craftsman

The story of Montaigne Haute Couture began in 1907, when a 19-year-old young man, Richard d'Orsay, walked through the door of the prestigious Callot Sœurs workshop on Avenue Montaigne. Driven by an unwavering passion for couture, he learned his trade there and apprenticed alongside the greatest artisans of the time. For thirty years, Richard honed his talent, became a master of his craft, and forged a discreet but respected reputation among the Parisian fashion elite.

When Callot Sœurs closed its doors in 1937, Richard decided to continue his craft in a small private workshop located at 12 rue Clément Marot , not far from avenue Montaigne. During this period, he worked for a confidential and refined clientele, while rigorously passing on his know-how to his only son, Guy d'Orsay.

A Dynasty of Couturiers: Guy d'Orsay and the Golden Age of Dior

Born in 1923, Guy grew up surrounded by sumptuous fabrics and exceptional creations. In 1949, at the age of 26, he joined the Christian Dior workshops, at the heart of the "New Look" revolution. Working alongside his father, he perpetuated the excellence and demands of exceptional craftsmanship. His talent and precision earned him the esteem of the greatest names in fashion.

Guy devoted his life to the House of Dior, working tirelessly until 1984, at the age of 61. But above all, he ensured that his son, Julien d'Orsay, would in turn inherit the family legacy.

Julien d'Orsay: The Ambition of a New Workshop

Born in 1955 in Paris, Julien d'Orsay naturally followed in his father and grandfather's footsteps. In 1983, at just 28 years old, he joined Christian Dior's workshop. But a tragic event changed the course of his destiny: in 1984, upon the death of his father, Guy, he vowed to perpetuate their memory by creating his own haute couture workshop.

For over a decade, Julien continued to work at Dior while patiently building his project. In 1997, the year the Chanel store opened on Avenue Montaigne, he founded Atelier Montaigne , located at 15 rue Jean Goujon , a discreet and confidential place, reserved for a privileged clientele. Initially alone, he quickly hired two couturiers, then three, and soon seven, gradually bringing the workshop to its peak.

Opening to the World: The Renaissance of Montaigne Haute Couture

The workshop thrived for over two decades, but it was in 2020, during the global lockdown, that Montaigne Haute Couture made a historic decision: to open its artisanal expertise internationally by launching its first online store. This transformation marked a turning point: from a discreet and exclusive workshop, Montaigne Haute Couture became a renowned house accessible to enthusiasts from around the world.

Since then, our exceptional creations have been delivered to our customers within 7 days, at no additional cost. Our commitment is clear: to offer superior quality at a fair price, without unnecessary extra costs associated with the brand's prestige.
